Growing Up ...
I was born in Paris, beautiful city of lights, what used to be the world
capital of the arts. My very first exposure to masks happened when I was 8 years old. It was
1961, the very early stages of the television era in France. I never forgot Les Perses,a
fantastic theatrical production made for television.
I was totally fascinated by the masks! See for yourself and you will
understand how a French little girl who was already attracted to the world of theater, decided
right there on the spot, to become part of the magic created with such an intriguing art form as mask
making!
Little did I know that what I saw on television that day would impact the rest
of my life in such a profound way! To this day, almost 50 years later, I still remember that experience like it was
yesterday.
